RCCG pastor, whose wife threw a lavish party after Herbert Wigwe’s death, suspended

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended the Senior Pastor of the City of David Parish, Idowu Iluyomade, after his wife Siju hosted a lavish 60th birthday party a week after the death of Herbert Wigwe, an influential member of the church who died in a helicopter crash.

A letter announcing the suspension was sent over the weekend. TheNewsGuru.Com learned.

Quick checks by this publication on the church’s Instagram page showed that neither Iluyomade nor his wife Siju were seen in the posts from the Sunday service.

As is known, the church council suspended PID, as he is popularly known, for three months after setting up a committee to investigate some of the allegations made against him.

“It was not Pastor (Enoch) Adeboye who suspended him. The board of directors decided to suspend him. I think it is a decision in the right direction. Although some say it is too late. They needed to investigate some of the things that people were saying against him and the church.” A high-ranking pastor of the church was quoted as saying.

Iluyomade was also replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of RCCG Resurrection Parish, Region 11.

Recall that Iluyomade’s wife threw a lavish party a week after the death of a prominent church member and former Chairman of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, his son Chizi and several others in a helicopter crash in California, USA on February 9.

After the party, social media was flooded with stories that the Iluyomades had no understanding of the plight of the Wigwes, who had been strong members of the community until their deaths.

Netizens argued that the entire church should have taken a few days to mourn Herbert, his wife and son, adding that the party at Eko Hotel was in poor taste.

The church was conspicuously left out of the Wigwe family’s funeral.
