STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: The extreme heat is here! | Weather

StormTracker 4 Meteorologist Isabella Fredrickson has everything you need to know during this heat warning

STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY — Today is going to be HOT! Temperatures in the 40s are possible over the next few days. A high pressure system in the southwest will bring heat and above-average temperatures to our area through Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of southern Arizona, beginning at 11 a.m. today and lasting through 8 p.m. Thursday.

With temperatures 7 to 10 degrees above normal, it’s important to stay safe over the next few days. Anyone can fall victim to heat-related illness, so make sure you stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities if possible, and check before you lock yourself in. Remember: heat is the number one weather-related killer!

The highest temperatures will be felt in western and central Pima County. Tucson is forecast to reach 108 degrees today.

Unlike the last heat wave last week, there is no risk of clouds gathering that could intensify the scorching temperatures.

This also means we are not expecting the isolated thunderstorms we have seen in Cochise and Graham Counties.

Despite the heat warning, we will still see highs of around 40 degrees until early next week, and temperatures will rise again to almost 43 degrees over the weekend.

The monsoon officially begins on Saturday, but no rain is expected for at least 10 days.

  • Today: sunny, hot. Highest temperature: 108°
  • Tonight: clear, mild. Low: 72°
  • Tomorrow: sunny, hotter. High: 109°
