Strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Happy Wednesday! Today is a KSLA First Alert Weather Day with the threat of strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. The storms could affect your lunchtime travel plans and your evening commute plans. The main threat is damaging winds, with heavy hail the second highest risk next to flooding. There is a possibility of isolated tornadoes, but the probability is low. It’s very humid out there and if we get sunshine this afternoon it will destabilize the atmosphere. The maximum temperatures will rise to over 30 degrees, the felt temperatures will probably rise to over 35 degrees.

There will also be unsettled weather across the ArkLaTex tomorrow, with highs climbing into the upper 80s again. The humidity will get out of control again tomorrow. There is also a risk of severe weather, particularly late in the evening, with the latest data suggesting storms will not flare up until around 9pm. The main threats tomorrow remain damaging winds and large hail.

We’ll return to the measured 90s on Friday, and the feels will climb into the triple digits as the humidity continues to get out of control. There could be a few storms late Friday, and the humidity will bring a slight chance of rain for the rest of the forecast. Mid-90s highs are expected to start next week.
